This is the only book written about the Auction Market Value Theory (AMVT) approach, not the Market Profile approach. This book is almost always written by Donald Jones, who has evolved the market profile into AMVT and is still teaching AMVT to students.

AMVT evolved from the market profile, but it goes one step further. AMVT uses a generalized market profile shape to classify market days and does not attempt to trade based on that generalization. Using the Market Profile The market has changed since the time of Steidlmayer.

In the AMVT approach, traders review some market reference points (similar to market profiles), metaprofiles (not market profiles), and overlay demand curves. The way these reference points and charts are created and applied differs from the market profile. This book explains what the differences are, and how and why AMVT applies to modern and changing market conditions.

This article is not a simple approach, it may require a few reads, and finally many applications, to actually “get” it. There is no simple market, but this book did a great job of providing me with the first steps to better understand the trading market. I’ve read Mind Over Markets and the books that follow it, but now I only trade using AMVT.
